Video performance is key to the overall performance of an OS/2 system.
OS/2 provides more than 100 parameters that can affect the performance of your overall system. Clear & Simple markets the commercial product Performance PLUS to help you achieve maximum performance with your OS/2 system.
Your video performance is mostly determined by the hardware you buy and the efficiency of the device drivers written to support that hardware. The resolution you choose will also affect video performance - especially the number of colors displayed. Most video subsystems will perform better at 256 colors than at 65K colors or 16M. Try it with VidPerf3.exe!
As good as Performance PLUS is for helping you fine tune the performance of your system, by itself, Performance PLUS won't help much in fine tuning your video subsystem. If your video performance is sluggish, first, I recommend you contact the video card manufacturer and ask for the latest OS/2 device driver. I have seen 10x performance improvements from simply upgrading the device driver! If you already have the latest driver and you still have sluggish video performance you may need to upgrade your hardware.
If your hardware is current and you're getting slow performance then you should let the video card manufacturer know that you are unhappy with their product's performance. Demand that they update their OS/2 device driver. SEND THEM A COPY OF VidPerf3.ZIP AND TELL TO USE IT TO FINE TUNE THE PERFORMANCE OF THEIR DRIVER!
